Resaca de la Palma is a State Park, operated by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. The park is unique in being one of the few terrains in south texas that have remained relatively untouched.Within the World Birding center our park is the largest area of native habitat, covering 1,200 acres. The different habitats found here support over 270 bird species, a variety of butterflies, dragonflies and other animals that are sought after by birders, biologists and butterfly enthusiasts.
In addition to being the Brownsville branch of the World Birding Center, we are here to meet the needs of the public community by being a park where all are welcome. There are over eight miles of trails; most trails are open for walking, hiking, and biking. Four decks in the park overlook the Resaca where one can observe many birds or simply relax in a natural surrounding. Acess to the park is by foot. Activities once in the park include; hiking, biking, walking, birding, or taking a scenic tram ride around the three mile loop.
