CPL Retail Energy is inviting McAllen residents and visitors to celebrate community connections with free ice cream at Dairy Queen on Wednesday.
The event is focused on raising awareness for CPL’s bill payment assistance program, Neighbor-to-Neighbor, and the ability for CPL customers to donate to the program on their monthly bills. Neighbor-to-Neighbor was created to highlight the importance of neighborly assistance to those who may be experiencing financial hardships. Through the support and commitment of the McAllen community, residents can help supplement the company’s $500,000 statewide initiative to assist even more vulnerable Texans who have difficulty paying their electric bill.
A Dairy Queen soft-serve cone will be available free of charge to the first 200 visitors to the CPL booth, which will be set up in the parking lot. Other giveaways will be available while CPL customers will be able to complete a pledge card stating their intentions to donate to Neighbor-to-Neighbor on their next bill. No donations will be accepted on site.
The Edinburg Community Action Agency, one of the agencies who administers the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program for CPL in the McAllen area, will be on-hand to provide further information on this and other programs and services available to those in need.
